Two Nights in She-Kaa-GO
| November 26th, 2007Two nights in Chicago! The most rockin time I have had in my Amerika experience so far. Broadway, Bar Chicago, Hampton inn, Lost and found, 60 Dollar Field Museum, Shedd. Aquarium, Sears Tower
The Journey!
We started from Farmington Hills at around 0830. 5 people in a Black 2004 Dodge Neon. That day was the second day I saw snow fall in Farmington Hills. Awesome weather. We had a nice fried egg and toast breakfast before the start. And then took off from here. It was suppose to be a 4 and a half hour drive but the bad weather caused us to slow down. Took a break at and had a nice sandwich lunch. [=P~] I love American food. [:D].
Reached our hotel. Relaxed there for few minutes and then took back off for Chicago Downtown.
Downtown Chicago!
The series of getting lost on reads started the very moment we entered Chicago. Had everything, maps, road guides. Yet if you miss 1 turn you are lost for at least 20 minutes. Somehow we made to all places on time.
It was really cold weather there and also the wind for which Chicago is famous. What can you expect in north east america in Winters [:D]. Skyscrapers .. thats what Chicago is full of.
Sears Tower!
My First step in Downtown Chicago. We visited Sears Towers. The tallest Building in America. Which was also once the tallest building in the world. The view of Chicago city from up there is so super cool.
Devon Street!
Next stop after sears tower was Devon street. The famous Street in Chicago where you will find all Indian and Pakistani stuff and most importantly Indian and Pakistani Cuisine. Everything on the same Street. We went to a Paki Restaurant .. where else wud I go .. being a major foodie. Just can not miss the chance to hog paki food [=P~]. Sabri Nihari. Kebabs, Bheja Masala, Seekh Masala, ummummyumm .. Biriyani!! .. ahhh .. My mouth is watering again just by the thought of it [=P~]. Then that night we went back to out Hotel with the thought that we will search a nice Bar and come back to downtown for a night out. But once we were at the hotel all were so tired the idea of going back was dropped.
Breakfast at Hampton!
I can talk about good food anytime of the day! lolz .. The breakfast at hotel was really good. I don’t usually get up early on holidays. But for that good breakfast I was up and on the dining table at 0830. Eggs n Ham, Bagle n Cheese. Never had this good breakfast in US since I landed here.
The Oriental Theater – Broadway Musical – Wicked
I can say out loud. The best part of my visit to Amerika so far has been Friday 23rd November 2007. The day I visited Oriental Theater, Chicago, Illinois. Chicago Broadway, for “Wicked”. It was a great musical play, my first experience with a Broadway show. The play is called “Wicked – The untold story of the witches of oz”. From the start, till the end, the show was mesmerizing. The songs, the story, the performance, aww aww aww .. amazing. I am in love with the Witch! [:P] Alphaba
Next few hour right after the show were spent shopping and eating in Downtown. Searched a good mall. Found a nice pair of Cowboy shoes but were out of budget. Ahh hope they are on sale on Christmas [;)]. Bought some good ol’ usual stuffed stuff [;)] [:">]. Then we went back to Hotel.
Bar Chicago!
Ahem ahem ahem .. the night of 23rd November 2007. We searched on good Pubs around and found sorted 5 of them. Bar Chicago was top on the list. so we went back to Downtown for a night here. Oh the night was freezing and Chicago wind were making it ever chiller [:D]. Had a great time at Bar Chicago. Good DJ, Great Drinks and ahem ahem .. Hott People! Chix .. Hott Hott Chix! Had a blast!
Shedd Aquarium & Field Museum!
The last day was full of laughs and giggles and good times. Went to see the world famous Shedd Aquarium which right at the side of Lake Michigan. Right time to click pictures [:D]. You can see all the skyscrapers from this end of the city. Took around 2-3 hours to see the Aquarium and then we went on to the next building near the Aquarium, The Field Museum. An interesting an funny thing happened here. We were all tired as we slept really less last night and then 2 – 3 hours walking in Aquarium and all. So we all were tired. We went to the Field Museum to see the remains of the famous T-Rex Sue. We just went in and on the entrance bought tickets without inquiring anything. Then we went in and found out that the section in which they have kept the fossils of Sue the T-Rex is free for viewing and there were some other sections that require tickets. We went to the McDonald’s in the building sat there and laughed about this for a good hour.
A great time .. fun ..
